Terrorism does exist. This is self-evident. But interestingly enough, today there is still no single internationally defined definition of “terrorism” or a “terrorist”. Therefore, these terms are thrown about in the media and common discourses rather loosely.

If I ask someone if they are opposed to terrorism, he/she typically responds with an emphatic yes. But the moment I ask such an individual to define terrorism I am met with a blank stare or presuppositions of what composes a terrorist that are more projections of the individual’s inner psyche than representative of an objective reality.

The truth is that I don’t ever expect the recipient of such a question to offer up some golden definition of terrorism, for the subject is still a matter of debate and contentious disagreement. For example, according to Trace Dominguez, the U.S. Government maintains around twenty different definitions of terrorism.

Here are a few of these definitions:

O The FBI defines a few “breeds” of terrorism on their website in accordance with Sec. 802 of the revised U.S. PATRIOT Act, that of the domestic and international variety. The domestic kind,

“Involve[s] acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law; Appear intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination. or kidnapping; and occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.”

O The U.S. State Dep. Defines terrorism as “premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against non-combatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents[.]”

In summary of the above definitions of terrorism, one derives the idea that a terrorist act is either “violent” or “dangerous to human life”, perpetrated against “non-combatants”, and is intended to sway U.S. policy through “coercion” or “intimidation”. This definition is blatantly loose and allows for interpretation of civil acts of protest as domestic terrorist activities.

As related by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Sec. 802 of the U.S. PATRIOT ACT now provides for the justification of legal pressures against civilian populations who hold to ideologies counter to established U.S. policies.8 In other words, if you happen to protest a certain policy of the U.S., that very action may be interpreted as a form of domestic terrorism and therefore individuals participant in such protests may be duly deemed “terrorists”.

In apprehension of domestic extremism precipitated by ideologies which conflict with domestic and foreign policy, a Dep. of Homeland Security Reference Aid was promulgated to raise awareness within intelligence and law enforcement communities of the potential indicators of domestic terrorists.

According to this reference, one ideological indicator that typifies such “terrorists” consists of the,

“belief that the government is deliberately stripping Americans of their freedoms and is attempting to establish a totalitarian regime. These individuals consequently oppose many federal and state authorities’ laws and regulations particularly those related to firearms ownership and often belong to armed paramilitary groups.”

While the reference cited does accede to the notion that the mere subscription to a particular ideology does not therefore justify the profiling of an individual as an extremist/terrorist, it is nevertheless rational to presume that such non-combatant individuals are likely targets of state surveillance in federal agencies’ attempts to thwart violent actions.

Other ideological indicators of domestic terrorists include an appeal to New World Order “conspiracy theories” such as the preceding notional ponderings I have presented. The reference states:

“This conspiracy is described by militia members as a plot by a secret cabal of powerful individuals whose alleged goal is to create a one-world socialist government under the auspices of the United Nations. The US Government is seen as collaborating with the New World Order to strip Americans slowly of their freedoms in the takeover, which allegedly would involve establishing large numbers of detention camps for American dissidents.”

So you see, one’s subscription to certain ideas puts them into a categorical profile that suggests one is a terrorist.

A novel electronic application known as Findface has recently been introduced to the consumer base of Russia. This biometric analysis application allows users to identify, with up to 70% accuracy, the identity of an individual through cross-comparison of a photo with information derived from social media, among other things. It is almost certain that the Western world will eventually bring to fruition biometric analysis tools of this variety if it hasn’t already.

New legislation sponsored by Senator John Cornyn of Texas will, if passed, amend the Electronic Communications Privacy Act to allow for the FBI to issue “national security letter” subpoenas for the seizure of internet browser records without the authorization of a judge.

Those who will be targets of such seizures are likely to be perceived as terrorists – a term that allows for a swath of agency mediated anti-liberty actions. The present FBI director James Comey allegedly finds such legislation to be of primary priority in 2016.

For the past three years Google has been working on yet another astronomical pet project. This one has been dubbed Project Tango and its very existence renders its predecessors, Google maps and Google earth, obsolete. Thus far not a lot of publicity has been given to this now complete app due to a lack of general interest (as of yet) and privacy related fears.

Installing this program on one’s smartphone enables the device to electronically sense the environment around it via frequency rebounding. Utilizing the data collected via this unprecedented advance in technology one can determine many things including: the dimensions of the area the phone is in, the size and location of the people nearby, the placement of furniture, and the locations of any exits such as doors and windows.

Naturally this information will ultimately be stored in an all too hackable way, and with all of the fears surrounding the government’s ability to access electronic communications among other things, one has to wonder whether or not agencies will be able to freely access this data as well.

If the concern is not about them then criminals would be on the list of worries as well. Imagine the advantage they gain by knowing the layout of multiple houses and where individuals are generally located!

When it comes to violent altercations or disaster scenarios seldom anything is completely predictable or guaranteed. This makes planning difficult, especially in light of the myriad potential disaster scenarios that may culminate. But thankfully, regardless of what disaster may knock on your front door, there is one survivability factor that can always be of benefit to yourself and your family – your level of physical fitness.

I find physical fitness to be the most important survivability factor. A well maintained body is more apt to adapt favorably to adverse conditions that are possible within a given emergency scenario. While one may receive great body-conditioning results via commitment to any number of fitness programs provided by commercial venues, I must offer here a bit of advice respecting what might be overlooked by those who attend said venues to ready for an SHTF situation.

If a scenario calls for you to carry supplies on your back while traversing across tortuous terrain, you can bet that one who has trained in carrying his/her supplies will be better adapted for the exigent occasion should it arise.

The ideal fitness program should incorporate training that conditions one to the features of a specified scenario. What do I mean by that? Answer: You must train the way you intend to survive.

For example, if you are preparing for a scenario that might require you to carry a bug-out bag or mobile cache of emergency supplies on foot, it is essential that you train for the occasion not by attending a fitness center, but by actually going out and carrying your pack around for an extended period of time. Try to do this in as many naturally provided circumstances as possible. Train when it is raining, snowing, or hot outside. By doing so you will not only discover your own limitations, but you will also learn what to be conscious of and what can be done to fine-tune your preparedness plan.

I have an EDC bag that I literally carry everywhere, even when I am practicing vaulting over fences, climbing walls, shooting, and sprinting. I do this because I recognize that a nasty scenario will likely require me to carry something on my back, whatever it may be. Also, by establishing the habit of training in this manner, the bones of the body will increase in density and strength as the result of a piezoelectric principle known conventionally as Wolf’s Law. Basically this law describes how bone remodeling occurs in areas of increased stress.

Therefore, if you train for carrying a pack on your back by carrying a pack on your back as opposed to going to a gym and lifting weights or walking with weights, the body will naturally remodel itself to adapt to the stresses so injury is less likely to occur when the real scenario arises. This is a simple concept but VERY important. Once again, whatever you are preparing for, TRAIN the way you intend to act through simulation (with adequate safety measures of course)!

In addition to exercising the above principle of fitness, it is helpful to start a conventional fitness regimen which incorporates cardiovascular and strength training simply for the health benefits. If you do not intend to attend any commercial fitness group for these purposes, I have provided very basic alternatives below.

  1. Push-ups
  2. Pull-ups
  3. Sit-ups
  4. Iron Horse Squats (No less than 1 min. intervals)
  5. One Leg Squats
  6. Jumping Jacks
  7. Roll-to-Jumps
  8. Wall-runs
  9. Jogging

Here is wonderful example of gymless exercise for Ninjutsu practitioners provided by Akban

Consult your doctor before implementing any new exercise regimen.

A 2015 publication out of the gestalt of war-related institutions (Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory Asymmetric Operations Working Group, Asymmetric Warfare Group) is alleging that “Russia’s strategic objectives in the Baltic region do not focus on the Baltic States as final targets, but on using the Baltic States to discredit and dismantle the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and undermining the European Union (EU) by using the Baltic States.” The publication, titled Ambiguous Threats and External Influences in the Baltic States Phase 2: Assessing the Threat, makes direct allusions to the reality of 4th Generation Warfare methodologies as being common components to modern conflict.  For example, in answering the question of Russian aggression in the Baltics, the document asserts that Russia isn’t likely to engage in an open conflict with NATO but rather will attempt to use sociopolitical and economic “levers” to destabilize the region.

Why does this matter? Well you see, 4th Generation Warfare by definition includes the civilian sector as a component of 4GW in that it may come to serve an active role in aiding or thwarting an enemy. Sociopolitical and economic means of aggression (aka war by proxy) means that the common citizen is subject to be a target of state and foreign propaganda.

This aside, what can we expect from Russia, and can we even believe our own sources?

It can be surmised that collectively, the world’s most influential nations tend to function more as malignant clusters of cancer, constraining the flow of life blood from other specialized structures of the organism known as Earth (thats inflammatory 🙂 ). Though the entirety of the world’s geography has been mapped and its cultures made known, conflict furcates from the roots of subsistence.

Resources are sequestered to the nations of primacy leaving the others to scavenge for scraps, and I speculate that if one were to review the past 6,000 years of human endeavor the most salient feature of our species would present itself; an insatiable striving for power from which sprouts war, oppression, and the destruction of our planets ecology.

This concept of man as a menace to himself has been the premise upon which the unification project, a new world order is predicated. The new world order ideology suggests a peaceful epilogue to the millennial conflicts of nations; a final cultivation of complete harmony among the peoples of the earth, but is the project a schematic for the coterminous existence of peoples, or is it actually more of a deceptive consolidation of cancerous power into the hands of an elite few?

Even if the project was beneficent, it would carry feasibility only as an intellective, until humanity confronted the macabre atrocities committed through the unacknowledged capacity for destruction each individual holds. As Carl Jung said, “We need more psychology because we are the origins of all coming evil.” If we do not understand ourselves then how are we to understand the causative factors of conflict? How are we to mitigate human suffering if we know not the enemy?

Until humankind looks within, and recognizes the agencies of its martial character, there will be no peace.

Global government then, will not solve our problems, for the inquest of the human interior is a discipline that bears fruit only by the direct participation of the individual involved. No single philosophical, psychological, sociological, or anthropological principle will suffice to beset all of humankind with self-knowledge. Yet we must all search for that tool which will lead us to the inner door.

My own self-knowledge yields the awareness that humankind, despite its share of megalomaniacs and tyrants, exercises negligible influence over the macro-cosmic processions which preside over its existence. It seems as though the ancients were well aware of their place in the universe, for they ascribed percepts of divinity to the celestial bodies. This deification of the planets, most blatant in Roman mythology, serves as an example of man and his microcosmic relationship to the macrocosm.

My point is this: Though humankind wields enormous powers today, in comparison to those of the ancients, does it dictate the revolution of the earth around the sun? Does it control the precessions of the equinoxes? Does it command the galaxies of the universe?

Our arrogance is reflected in our societies. It stands to be true that insanity is not the character of a delusional schizophrenic but the defensive, paranoid leaders of nations who advocate stockpiles of hundreds of nuclear weapons for their own security. What could possibly be secure after the utter annihilation of all the planet’s ecology; our means to subsist?

Instead of trying to do the most futile, that is extirpate the negativity of the world so as to feel safe while perceiving external elements as the cause of our martial character, why don’t we look into ourselves and take stock of the ravaged landscapes which lie there? Isn’t it time that we see from where the capacity for destruction, hatred, sleight of hand, and all other negativity arises? Without that introspective sojourn what use are policies, much less, a global government?

The whole concept of a New World Order heralds with it promises of a final solution to global problems as ubiquitous as terrorism and economic strife. Its proponents hammer on the ideals of prosperity linked to a global network of cooperation between nations which may alleviate much unnecessary suffering of the world, while at the same time, bolstering the strength and unity of the human race.

While the allusions to the world -wide recognition of all peoples as part of a unified family are quite palatable to the commoner, it is crucial to understand the high improbability of abating the suffering and darkness which encompasses our world today by the implementation of a global government  or the establishment of a Utopia.

When one thinks of the future and the notion of Utopia, it is seldom not true that the images one conjures in the mind consist of novel architectural designs, ingenious utilizations of resources, complex technologies, and motifs befitting a world of global peace. But these notions of Utopia are shortly entertained before they are relegated to the realm of impossibility.

Sure, creating a Utopia is a hard things to do, and to breathe life into one does seem futile in consideration of the diversities in human perspective and comportment that must first be resolved. But one should not smother a flame of hope for a more peaceful world – this was my sentiment following a marvelous introduction to the life and work of Jaque Fresco.

With election day approaching fast, new insights into Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s medical status may express potency in dismissing her implied capacity to serve as President. According to a Dr. Drew Pinsky, Hillary’s publicly released medical files indicate that the candidate receives a substandard, antiquated form of healthcare which he characterized as “bizarre” and “concerning”. Pinsky asserts that certain drugs utilized in Clinton’s healthcare do not even match her disorders (coagulation issues, brain damage, etc.) or modern healthcare practices.

‘The Next News Network’ reports that the very interview promoted by ABC news in which Dr. Drew offers his medical perspective of Clinton was deleted from the ABC site in light of it’s content  which expresses negative potential consequences for the candidates campaign. Sensible considering the possible Commander in Chief will have access to nuclear codes and sundry other powerful things to use with her discretion (better make sure the President isn’t senile, demented, or criminal 😉 ).

The story was first covered by Infowars.com who also received Secret Service dispensed details of Clinton’s health problems. The Secret Service source alleged that Hillary Clinton “has Parkinson’s Disease”.

What do you think? Fit for presidency?

4GW is a method of warfare not restricted to blatantly martial confrontations with the enemy (i.e. open conflicts with small arms, battle-ships, tanks, etc.) but instead consists of more subtle attempts to undermine a given enemy. It is colored with stratagems for waging war through economic, socio-political, and psychological means in addition to martial means.

In relation to preparedness, one would be wrong to presume 4GW has no impact on an individual’s preparedness options – in that some historical events which bear the mark of a “SHTF” scenario are direct results of such modern warfare practices. For example (grid down).

All that human kind holds within its domain of cognition is but a drop in the ocean of universal knowledge. Even as I have the propensity to search for the sharp edge that might cut through all falsity, I too must admit that I am inclined to believe in the fatuous presumption that my limited capacities of conscience might somehow grasp “the truth” of the universe in all its entirety.

Who can contend with the idea that the suchness of a human being is that of limitation? Who can deny that there is a delineated capacity to what one can know? And though we concede that our disposition in comprehending the universe around us is very limited, we persist in our quest for ultimate knowledge.

Because of this struggle to understand, scientific men and women are the heroes of our story – facing the daunting odds of defeat by the dark obscurities of the star ocean’s depths with the intention of bringing forth light to a world of unreason. Let us hope science does not fail us. Let us hope that science will bring us an innovated perception of our lives. Yes, let us hope that science will satisfy the existential imperative to formulate an understanding of why we are here.

But of course, such objectivity will not satiate our subjective cravings, for what we want is the incontrovertible, the absolute. We want perfect knowledge to beset our imperfect minds in that we may finally rest with the certitude that we have found meaning and the most correct way to live. We would rejoice with the reception of idealistic omniscience with the exclamation, “I hold understanding of all the cosmos!” Yet it is perhaps a most grand tragedy to believe that knowledge of the infinite can be endowed to the finite.

This notion of omniscience has consistently been the defining attribute of our gods and is perhaps a psychological projection of humankind’s desire to know. The Genesis story of Eden’s tree of knowledge and the partaking of its fruit by the origins of the human species under the tempting of the serpent is perhaps an allegory of a genuine human condition. The awareness of the self impels us to seek out answers to our existence; even at the cost of our own peril.

From this allegory the ideals of theistic satanism have taken its roots in proclaiming the serpent, often connoted to be lucifer, as the light bringer more worthy of adulation and devotion than the god who attempted to conceal the light from humankind. A parallel to this is the myth of Prometheus who stole fire from the gods and gave it to the peoples of the earth. What value humanity has held to truth is evident in myth.

This sanctification of truth follows from the power derived from it. Truth is conducive to knowledge (having knowing) and the state of knowing a thing leads to advantage. This advantage is power to those who lack it.

Little illustration of this concept is necessary for the verification of it as a real principle. But for those who are thirsty for explanation, suffice yourselves to look to all the advances of humankind. They have left in their wakes marvelous achievements of eminence spanning the gamut from resource acquisitions, electronics, and chemical synthesis through applied chemistry, to Hadron colliders, complex architectural design, and the atom bomb. All of these are resultant from the power of knowledge.

He who has correct knowledge (Truth) holds immense power. Conversely, the ill-educated and utterly ignorant are most subject to enslavement by systems they cannot understand.  Because the most salient feature of our species is a robust brain which has demonstrably afforded us advantage on the earth, all that is necessary to make one a slave is the taking hold of the individual’s mind. Why then is it so hard for so many to grasp the potency of ideas?

The human mind is a system with a propensity for absorbing massive amounts of information. This is obvious. What is less obvious however is the phenomenon that flows from the human disposition to arrange conduct in accordance with information that has not been subjected to logical analysis.

Do you really believe that the torrents of images and taglines that flit across your inner screen do not affect the elements comprising your human consciousness? Personal bias, a proclivity to desire this informational item over that one, is not a static construct. It can be altered by anyone who understands that the nature of consciousness is such that the systems which inform it are not of a closed quality.

With this understanding one can see how exceedingly simple it is to polarize the moral character or general ideological composition of a given population. In fact, the primary subject of a 1928 book by nephew of Sigmund Freud and father of ‘Public Relations’ Edward Bernays was propaganda and the phenomenon of subversive manipulation of the human mind.

Bernay’s writes in his first chapter on ‘Organizing Chaos’:

“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society.  Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our   minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas   suggested, largely by men we have never heard of.”1 (Bernays 1928 Propaganda)

What more is needed for demonstration that there exists today, as in the past, a perpetual war for allegiances to ideological artifices that serve the powerful? For god’s sake just open up a book on propaganda and read the tactics and techniques employed to sway the human mind. This engineering of consciousness is ongoing and the only defense against it consists of an engagement of the higher functions of the human mind: rational awareness.

Furthermore, if the manipulation of the human mind via propaganda was wholly a pseudo-scientific phenomenon, then I ask you pointedly, “Why do militaries around the world regiment forces to effectively utilize ‘Psychological Operations’ against allies and enemies?”.

Pulling directly from the 2003 U.S. military manual on Psychological Operations (PSYOP), the nature of a PSYOP is purposed at:

“convey[ing] selected information and indicators to foreign target audiences (TAs) to influence their emotions, motives, objective reasoning, and ultimately, the behavior of foreign governments, organizations, groups, and individuals. The purpose of all

PSYOP is to create in neutral, friendly, or hostile foreign groups the emotions, attitudes, or desired behavior that support the achievement of U.S. national objectives and the military mission. In doing so, PSYOP influence not only policy and decisions, but also the ability to govern, the ability to command, the will to fight, the will to obey, and the will to support.”2

This statement substantiates the notion that propaganda is used as a tool to subvert and redirect an enemy or ally in a combat or potential combat environment, and it is therefore not outside the bounds of respectable reasoning to infer that governments at home and abroad have geo-political agendas that may be best served via propagandizing the public to accede to their objectives.
